A Documentary about the Welsh Rock/Metal Scene
It’s no secret that strong scenes tend to emerge from highly industrialised blue-collar pockets of society. Seattle, Boston and Manchester are all homes to well documented movements, but many regions have been left untouched…
For such a small place, South Wales has and continues to be something of an understated goldmine of musical talent with a reputation for producing some of the greatest names on the planet – particularly in regards to rock/metal, a scene which is riddled with dots that have yet to be connected and tales that deserve to be broadcast as deafeningly as their music.
Something In The Water is a documentary chronicle of that scene. An intimate warts-and-all story personalised by members of Funeral For A Friend, Bullet For My Valentine, The Blackout, Lostprophets, Skindred, Kids in Glass Houses, The Joy Formidable & more - of the shitty bands they started out in, the dingy venues that acted as launching pads and all the labels, promoters and scene-support that helped them make the weighty names they now have for themselves.
From the highs to the lows, the realities to the rumours, Something In The Water is the first comprehensive oral history of the South Wales rock/metal scene, produced and told by individuals who lie directly at the heart of it.
